Besiktas president confirms final proposal sent to Mohamed Salah as Liverpool forward weighs move

Besiktas president Serdal Adalı says the Turkish club has made its last formal contract proposal to Mohamed Salah and is now waiting for the former Liverpool forward to decide on a move to Istanbul.

Adalı explained that Besiktas have been in protracted talks with the Egypt international and his representatives and that negotiations have now reached a decisive stage, with the club’s final terms set out.

Speaking to Turkish outlet Ortacizgi, Adalı said: “As has been reported in the media, we have been holding talks for some time with Salah and his representatives about the details of the deal.”

He continued: “In the final phase, we discussed the demands of the player and his representatives from every angle and, after mutual negotiations, we submitted our official and final offer. We also asked them to inform us of their decision within a short period.”

Adalı stressed that Besiktas, who are working on a number of transfer targets this window, believe they have pushed their proposal as far as they can in line with the club’s priorities.

“While our transfer work continues at full strength, this is the situation with Salah,” he said. “From the beginning of the talks, we assessed all requested adjustments in line with the interests of the club and we presented our final offer.

“Now the decision is in the player’s hands,” he concluded.

Reported contract terms

Salah, who left Liverpool this summer, has been heavily linked in recent weeks with a switch to Besiktas during the current transfer window, with multiple media reports in Turkey and abroad suggesting the club are pushing hard to secure his signature.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Besiktas have already reached an agreement in principle with Salah and his agent on all personal terms.

Schira reports that the proposed deal would see Salah sign a one-year contract in Istanbul, with a salary of up to €12m for the season.

Besiktas have not publicly commented on the financial details or the contract length, and Adalı’s remarks did not address any specific figures or clauses, focusing instead on the fact that the club has now completed its side of the negotiations.

The Istanbul club are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of the new campaign and view Salah as a marquee signing who could significantly strengthen their attacking options, but any move now depends entirely on the player’s response to the offer on the table.
