Manchester United’s international striker, Dimitar Berbatov, with only one year left on his contract, officially joined Fulham for a two-season stint on Friday.
Aged 31, Berbatov was determined to depart from Manchester United, where he had limited playing time, featuring in only 12 Premier League matches the previous year and scoring 7 goals. Despite engaging in talks with Fiorentina and Juventus Turin, and experiencing a significant setback, he ultimately settled on Fulham as his new destination.
While the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed, it is estimated at around 6 million euros, inclusive of bonuses. Berbatov was initially acquired by Manchester United from Tottenham in 2008 for nearly 40 million euros, making him the third most expensive transfer in the Red Devils’ history. Over his tenure with Manchester United, he participated in 149 matches across all competitions, netting 56 goals. Notably, he claimed the top scorer title in the English championship in 2011 with 21 goals.
