Grasshopper Club Zurich have confirmed the permanent signing of Beninese international Hassane Imourane following a successful loan spell at the Swiss Super League side.
The 21-year-old midfielder joins Grasshopper on a full-time basis from Benin’s Loto Popo FC, with the club activating the purchase option included in the original loan agreement.
Imourane has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, committing his future to the Zurich-based outfit until 2028.
Imourane initially arrived in Switzerland as a relatively unknown figure from the Benin Premier League, but he quickly adapted to life in the Swiss top flight.
His performances during his temporary stay were enough to convince Grasshopper’s management to secure his services permanently, a move that underscores the club’s growing interest in developing young African talent.
Although the exact terms of the transfer remain undisclosed, club officials have expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of the deal. Sporting Director Bernt Haas praised Imourane’s development and highlighted the midfielder’s impact on and off the pitch during his loan tenure.
“Hassane has shown maturity beyond his years,” Haas noted in a statement released by the club.
“His work ethic, composure, and tactical understanding have all been exemplary. We are excited about his continued growth and the role he will play in our long-term plans.”
The midfielder’s steady rise from Benin’s Celtis Ligue Pro to European football marks a significant step in his professional journey.
While at Loto Popo FC, Imourane built a reputation as a disciplined and technically gifted midfielder, traits that have translated well into his time in Zurich.
For Imourane, the permanent switch offers a valuable opportunity to further his development in a more competitive environment.
Speaking to the club’s media team following the announcement, he expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by Grasshopper and his excitement for the road ahead.
“It’s a proud moment for me,” he said. “From the first day I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported. Now I want to keep working hard to help the team and continue growing as a player.”
Grasshopper Club Zurich, one of Switzerland’s most historic clubs, are aiming to rebuild and return to prominence in the Super League.
The addition of Imourane is part of a broader effort to bring in promising young players capable of contributing immediately while also representing long-term value.
While he may still be early in his career, the Beninese international’s performances have shown glimpses of the potential that could make him a key figure for the club moving forward.
His ability to operate as both a holding and box-to-box midfielder gives Grasshopper added flexibility in their tactical setup.
Imourane is expected to rejoin pre-season training with the rest of the squad as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
With his future now settled, the focus will shift to ensuring that his impact continues to grow in Swiss football.
