Benin international Gislain Ahoudo has signed with Saudi Arabian club Al Arabi SC, marking a new chapter in his career in the Middle East.
The 26-year-old midfielder has committed to a deal until the end of the season, with an option for extension.
Ahoudo joins the First Division League side after leaving Tunisian club Avenir Sportif de Gabès on 6 January 2026.
His swift move to Al Arabi reflects both the club’s ambition and his desire to continue competing at a high level following his departure from Tunisia.
Al Arabi, a historic club based in Unaizah, are counting on Ahoudo’s experience and versatility to reinforce their midfield.
The Beninese international is capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, a box-to-box option, or in a more advanced role. Known for his tactical awareness, ball recovery, and precise passing, Ahoudo brings a balanced skill set to a squad aiming to compete strongly in the league.
The midfielder has also earned multiple caps for the Benin national team, the Cheetahs, and has participated in several high-level continental matches.
His move to Saudi Arabia aligns with a broader trend of West African players seeking opportunities in the Gulf, where the lower divisions offer regular playing time, attractive contracts, and a platform for progression into the Saudi Pro League or other Middle Eastern leagues.
For Ahoudo, the transfer represents both a professional and personal opportunity. After a period of transition following his release from Avenir Sportif de Gabès, he is set to re-establish himself on the pitch, impress in a new competitive environment, and maintain his standing in the national team.
Al Arabi’s technical staff expressed confidence that Ahoudo’s combination of experience, adaptability, and leadership will have an immediate impact as they pursue success in the Saudi First Division.
With his debut season ahead, Ahoudo will be expected to quickly integrate into the squad and provide the stability and creativity the club is seeking in midfield.
