Ivorian forward Bénie Traoré produced a decisive performance for FC Basel as they played out a 3-3 draw with BSC Young Boys in the Swiss league.

Returning from international duty with Ivory Coast, Traoré made an immediate impact, contributing both a goal and an assist in a match that proved to be closely contested throughout.

He first influenced proceedings late in the first half, setting up Xherdan Shaqiri in the 41st minute to give Basel a 2-1 lead.

His contribution ensured the home side went into the break with momentum, having taken control of the scoreline at a crucial stage.

Traoré continued to play a central role after the interval. In the 68th minute, he found the net himself, scoring Basel’s third goal to make it 3-2.

The strike appeared to have put his side in a strong position to secure victory.

However, the match took another turn as Young Boys responded by finding an equaliser, bringing the score to 3-3.

Despite the late setback, Traoré’s influence on the contest remained evident. He was substituted in the 81st minute, having already left a significant mark on the game.

The performance adds to an impressive run of form for the Ivorian, who now has nine goals and two assists in 25 league appearances this season, including 21 starts.

His consistent output underlines his importance in Basel’s attacking setup.

Traoré’s display in Switzerland follows a productive international break. He featured as a substitute against South Korea, coming on in the 79th minute, before starting the next match against Scotland, where he played 69 minutes before being replaced by Amad Diallo.

In both appearances, he demonstrated strong technical ability and a growing understanding of the game.

With performances of this level, Traoré continues to strengthen his case at international level, positioning himself as a credible option for Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Faé as selection decisions approach.
