Hamdi Harbaoui, the top scorer in the Jupiler League this season, is attracting interest from several European clubs, with Standard de Liège being the latest to show interest in the Tunisian striker. Despite having two years left on his contract with Lokeren, Harbaoui could potentially leave the club at the end of the season. However, he remains non-committal about the rumors linking him to Standard.
Harbaoui emphasized that it’s premature to discuss his future, especially with three matches still remaining in the season, including one against Standard, who are competing for the title. He stated, “The Standard? Frankly, it’s too early to talk about this. There are still three matches left, and it is not possible to talk about that knowing that we still have to play a match against Standard and they are playing for the title.”
Prior to making any decisions about his future, Harbaoui is focused on finishing the season strongly and aims to clinch the title of top scorer in the Belgian championship. He expressed his determination, saying, “I would be happy to win this title of top scorer. This season is exceptional for me, the best since I played in Belgium. My season is successful and I’m not going to give up.”
Harbaoui highlighted the motivations driving him and his teammates, stating that they play for pride and financial incentives. He emphasized their commitment to winning every match and stated their intention to play the remaining matches with the aim of securing victories.
Alongside Michy Batshuayi, Harbaoui currently shares the top scorer position in the Jupiler Pro League with 21 goals each.
