Belgian outfit Kortrijk confirm signing of South African wonderkid Cassius Mailula

Belgium outfit Kortrijk have completed the acquisition of South African wonderkid Cassius Mailula in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old attacker joins Kortrijk on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC. Meanwhile, the purchase option in the deal is not mandatory.

With his wealth of experience, the forward is expected to play a huge role for Kortrijk in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

The move offers the South African international the opportunity to explore in Europe after spells on the African continent and in North America.

Cassius Mailula made the move to Toronto from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2023 for €1.5 million.

Last season, Mailula played on loan at Moroccan club Wydad, where he featured in 36 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists. He was part of the squad that featured at the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the USA.

The 24-year-old has made just two appearances for the South African national team since making his debut in 2023.
