Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed his intention to pursue a career in coaching after retiring from professional football.
The Belgian forward, who has Congolese roots, shared his aspirations while also acknowledging some uncertainty about the path ahead.
Speaking about his post-playing plans, Lukaku admitted that coaching is a serious consideration, though he remains undecided.
Despite his reservations, he is preparing to take the necessary steps to secure his coaching qualifications.
Lukaku confirmed that he will begin formal training after the current season.
“I like to think that I want to be a coach. Part of me wants it, but I also have my doubts.”
Despite the doubts, Lukaku is already planning to get the necessary licenses to be able to coach.
“I’ll start my coaching education after the season. I’ll start the UEFA A and UEFA B courses, then we’ll see what I want,” he added.
These licenses are essential for aspiring managers in European football and could pave the way for him to transition into a leadership role in the sport.
The 30-year-old striker has been a key figure for Napoli this season, featuring in 29 matches and scoring 10 goals across all competitions.
His experience at the highest levels of club and international football, including stints with Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, could make him a strong candidate for a future coaching role.
