Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka has noted that securing a win over the Black Stars of Ghana at the 2025 Unity Cup felt amazing.
Nigeria and Ghana locked horns on Wednesday in the second semi-final game of the 2025 Unity Cup in London.
A strike from Cyriel Dessers and an own goal by Ghana’s Razak Simpson propelled the Super Eagles to a 2-1 win.
Substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante netted the only consolation goal for the Black Stars during the contest.
Reflecting on the game in an interview, Frank Onyeka said Nigeria went into the game determined to get a win by all means.
“We know the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana. For us, it was more than a friendly, we didn’t want to lose to Ghana. So, we went into the game determined to win,” the Super Eagles midfielder said.
Onyeka added, “We took our chances in the first half and scored two goals. Our second half wasn’t the best, but we limited them to just one goal. It felt amazing to come out with the win.”
After the win against Ghana, Nigeria will now play against Jamaica in the final of the 2025 Unity Cup.
