The first half concluded with a goalless draw, leaving both teams seeking a breakthrough. Unfortunately for Bayern, the turning point came in the second half when Dayot Upamecano’s challenge resulted in a penalty for Lazio.
Upamecano’s mistimed tackle led to his expulsion, paving the way for Immobile to convert the penalty successfully in the 64th minute.
Despite the late entry of Choupo-Moting, Bayern Munich struggled to level the score, and the match concluded with Lazio securing a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory.
The defeat places Bayern in a precarious position, and they now face the daunting task of overcoming the deficit in the return leg at the Allianz Arena in three weeks to avoid elimination from the tournament.
