Bayern Munich intensify interest in Eberechi Eze and Christopher Nkunku as Jamal Musiala injury forces summer rethink

Bayern Munich have stepped up their interest in Premier League stars Eberechi Eze and Christopher Nkunku following the serious injury to Jamal Musiala during their FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The German champions are reportedly keen to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Musiala, 22, who has Nigerian roots through his father, suffered a broken leg in the 2-0 loss to PSG and is expected to be sidelined for several months.

The injury, combined with Leroy Sane’s transfer to Galatasaray, has prompted Bayern to explore immediate replacements. Eze, who is of Nigerian descent, and Nkunku, of Congolese heritage, have now emerged as top targets.

According to The Times, Bayern are preparing a summer move for both players, with Nkunku’s prior Bundesliga experience at RB Leipzig making him an appealing option for the Bavarian club.

The French international’s familiarity with the German league is viewed as a potential advantage in settling quickly at the Allianz Arena.

Eze, currently with Crystal Palace, has drawn interest from several top English clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

With Palace expected to listen to offers this summer, Bayern are monitoring the situation closely and could make a formal approach if negotiations with other targets stall.

The urgency around these potential signings reflects Bayern’s ambition to remain competitive both domestically and in Europe.

Losing Musiala—one of their most influential attacking players—has left a void the club is eager to fill swiftly.

While no official bids have been submitted, the club’s growing interest in Eze and Nkunku signals that Bayern are serious about strengthening their forward line ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
