Following Uli Hoeness’ resignation as president of Bayern Munich due to a prison sentence for tax fraud, the Board of Directors swiftly appointed Karl Hopfner as his successor. Hopfner, the former vice-president of the club, now assumes the role of president.
Additionally, Rudolf Schels was appointed as vice-president, and Dieter Maier as second vice-president. Edmund Stoiber, chairman of the Board of Directors, expressed confidence that the newly appointed team would ensure the continuity of the club’s management.
Despite the leadership change, Bayern Munich continues to perform well in the Bundesliga, currently leading the league with 68 points, significantly ahead of their closest rival Borussia Dortmund, who have 48 points. Pep Guardiola’s team is set to face Bayer Leverkusen in their upcoming match.
