Bayern Munich chief dismisses Vincent Kompany exit rumours amid Man City links
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has firmly downplayed growing speculation surrounding the future of head coach Vincent Kompany, insisting the Belgian remains central to the club’s long-term plans.
Kompany’s impressive start in Bavaria has inevitably attracted attention across Europe, with reports suggesting he could be a leading candidate to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City should the Spaniard step down at the end of the season. However, Bayern’s hierarchy appears unmoved by the speculation.
Under Kompany, Bayern have surged to the top of the Bundesliga table and are widely considered strong contenders in the UEFA Champions League, reinforcing the belief within the club that they have secured one of the brightest managerial minds in the game.
Addressing the rumours in an interview with Absolut Bayern, Eberl dismissed concerns about a potential departure and reiterated the club’s contractual position. “Let them have a go; he’s under contract until 2029.”
Eberl went further to underline Kompany’s qualities, not only as a tactician but as a leader whose personality continues to command respect within the dressing room and beyond.
“Even though he’s only turning 40, he’s already one of the very best in the coaching profession. Because he’s a very astute, intelligent person.
“Please emphasise the word ‘person’! People have always had respect for him. But he makes that respect grow every day. Simply by being himself.
“He brings the experience he gained as captain of a top-flight team to bear before every match. That quality is fantastic; his composure does us a world of good.”
With Bayern flying domestically and competing strongly in Europe, Eberl’s remarks signal a club determined to maintain stability and resist external interest in their highly rated manager.
