Bayern boss Kompany hails Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson as 'perfect fit' after Chelsea exit

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany says new signing Nicolas Jackson will give his team fresh attacking options and believes the Senegalese forward is an ideal addition to the Bundesliga champions’ squad.

Jackson, who represents Senegal at international level, joined Bayern on Deadline Day after months of speculation over his future at Chelsea.

The 24-year-old was eased out of the side by Enzo Maresca and completed a season-long loan to Germany, where he is expected to rotate with England captain and last year’s Bundesliga top scorer Harry Kane. Kompany believes the deal will hand him greater flexibility up front.

Speaking at Jackson’s official unveiling, the former Manchester City captain said: “This first phase is very important for him because he didn’t have a proper preparation at Chelsea.

“He’s a good athlete, and it won’t take long for him to get back to 100 percent. We have to wait and see when he can play from the start.

“What I’ve seen so far is very good. He’s a young player with a lot of quality. He’ll pose a great threat with his speed and attacking drive.

“We’re always very flexible up front, and I think that’s a good thing. That’s why Nicolas Jackson’s profile makes him a perfect fit. That’s why he’ll play an important role next season.”

Bayern, who sit top of the Bundesliga after a strong start under Kompany, face Hamburger SV this weekend.

Jackson is unlikely to start but could make his debut from the bench and give Kane a much-needed rest after leading the club’s attack for the opening weeks of the campaign.

The arrival of the Senegal international adds depth and pace to Bayern’s forward line as they chase another league title and a deep Champions League run.
