Bayer Leverkusen set €50m price tag for Nigeria’s Victor Boniface amid transfer interest

Boniface

Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly set a €50 million valuation for Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, as speculation grows over a potential summer departure from the Bundesliga champions.

The 24-year-old forward could be on the move following head coach Xabi Alonso’s confirmed exit to Real Madrid, with Leverkusen open to reshaping their squad during the upcoming transfer window.

According to German outlet BILD, Leverkusen are considering parting ways with Boniface as they explore options to reinforce their attacking line.

The Nigerian international is said to have drawn interest from several top-flight clubs, particularly in the Premier League and Bundesliga.

Boniface joined Leverkusen in the summer of 2023 from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise and made an immediate impact in his debut campaign.

Across all competitions during the 2024/25 season, he registered 11 goals in 27 appearances, helping Leverkusen secure domestic success.

His performances have not gone unnoticed. In January, Boniface came close to a high-profile move to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, but the transfer failed to materialise.

That near-move has only fuelled further talk of a possible switch, with clubs now aware of his growing value in the market.

Leverkusen’s asking price signals both the club’s appreciation of Boniface’s contribution and their intent to secure maximum value should they agree to sell.

The striker, known for his physical presence, sharp finishing, and ability to lead the line, has developed a strong reputation since his move to Germany.

Though no official bids have been reported, the club’s decision to publicly fix a price point suggests they are preparing for negotiations.

With Alonso’s departure triggering a period of transition at the BayArena, Leverkusen’s management appear keen to balance squad evolution with financial prudence.

Boniface’s next destination remains uncertain, but interest from English and German clubs underlines his rising profile.

At 24, the Nigerian has already shown he can compete at a high level in Europe, and his blend of youth and experience makes him a valuable target for clubs seeking attacking reinforcements.

Leverkusen’s transfer policy under sporting director Simon Rolfes has often focused on talent development and timely sales, and Boniface may now be the latest player to move on as part of that model.

The striker’s development from his time in Belgium to his current standing in the Bundesliga has marked him as one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects.

His potential move this summer could represent a key moment in both his career trajectory and Leverkusen’s summer plans.

As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether interested clubs are willing to meet Leverkusen’s €50 million valuation — and where Boniface might continue his upward climb in European football.
