German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have jumped into the lead in the race to sign Belgian forward of Ivorian descent Johan Bakayoko.
The PSV forward in the last few weeks has become a transfer target of several clubs.
As reported by Africasoccer on Monday, Bakayoko is on the radar of German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
The German Bundesliga outfit has identified Bakayoko as the ideal replacement for departing winger Jamie Gittens, who is set to sign for English Premier League side Chelsea.
Backed by fresh funds from the Club World Cup and the sales of Youssoufa Moukoko and Gittens, BVB now have the financial muscle to strengthen their squad.
Per new information, Bayer Leverkusen have jumped ahead of Dortmund in the pursuit of the talented winger.
Although Nottingham Forest are also interested in signing Johan Bakayoko, Leverkusen are understood to have a better chance of signing the winger from PSV.
Now spoiled for choice, Bakayoko is taking his time to decide his future.
