Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a deal to bring Moroccan midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir to the Bundesliga from AS Monaco, in a transfer valued at over €30 million.
The 20-year-old, who emerged as one of Monaco’s brightest academy prospects during the 2022/23 season, has struggled to fully establish himself in Ligue 1 due to recurring injuries and internal club tensions.
Leverkusen view Ben Seghir as a key long-term addition, stepping into the void left by Florian Wirtz following his record-breaking move to Liverpool.
The German side, Bundesliga champions in 2023/24, hope the attacking midfielder will bolster their squad across domestic and European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled in Morocco, Ben Seghir will also be eager to secure regular playing time to strengthen his place in the national team setup.
