Batista Mendy emerges as Basaksehir target after Trabzonspor return

Batista Mendy, the France and Guinea-Bissau midfielder currently at Trabzonspor, is the subject of a reported move to Basaksehir in the Turkish Super Lig.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder returned to Trabzonspor this summer after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Sevilla. His loan spell ended on 30 June, bringing him back to the Turkish club, where he remains under contract until 30 June 2027.

Mendy has yet to feature for Trabzonspor this season, despite the club having played two possible matches in the Super Lig and two in Europa League qualifying. The lack of an appearance comes as speculation grows over a potential switch to another Istanbul-based Super Lig side.

He joined Trabzonspor from Angers in September 2023 in a transfer reported at €4.4m. Mendy had previously spent two seasons with Angers after progressing through the youth system at Nantes.

The reported interest from Basaksehir concerns a move within the same division, although the available information does not establish whether negotiations have taken place or whether an offer has been made.

Mendy’s current market valuation is €7.5m, while his contract continues for a further season beyond the current campaign. The situation remains at the rumour stage, with the midfielder still registered as a Trabzonspor player.
