Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal twists the knife: ‘Real Madrid have lost their aura’

Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal believes that Real Madrid no longer intimidate their rivals, insisting the Catalans approached Sunday’s thrilling 4-3 El Clasico win without fear.

Yamal played a crucial role in the victory at Montjuic, continuing his impressive rise this season as Barcelona edged their bitter rivals in a seven-goal classic.

Yamal, who has Moroccan and Equatoguinean heritage, has quickly become one of the brightest talents in European football.

Despite his tender age, the teenager has shown remarkable composure on the big stage, including a standout performance against Madrid.

Reflecting on the win, he told ESPN, “It’s not a good feeling when Madrid beat you. It’s true that we didn’t beat them last year, we suffered, and this year we gave everything to change things.”

The 17-year-old also highlighted a shift in mentality within the Barcelona squad, pointing to a newfound confidence that has helped them overcome their fierce rivals this season.

“We don’t have that fear that perhaps other teams have towards them, so we gave everything,” Yamal added. “We feel we are better than any other team, and that’s the mentality with which we go out onto the pitch.”

Yamal’s fearless approach has been a driving force behind Barcelona’s resurgence, with the young forward encouraging his teammates to play with a sense of freedom and belief.

“I think that’s the right attitude to face them. You have to go out there convinced that you are the best and enjoy yourself, that’s all,” he said, underscoring the confidence that has come to define this new-look Barcelona side.
