Barcelona have submitted a final offer to sign Egyptian starlet Hamza Abdelkarim from Al Ahly, in a move seen as very close to completion after weeks of negotiations.
The Catalan club had tried several times before but repeatedly ran into Al Ahly’s financial demands, which stalled progress on the deal.
According to beIN Sports reporter Basel Tabbal in Barcelona, “Barcelona offered the final ground to Al-Ahly to support Hamza Abdelkarim, and the crucial period is approaching this year!” as he revealed on social media. Recent days have seen intensified talks between three main parties: Al Ahly, Barcelona and the English company representing the player, all working to reach a formula that settles the youngster’s future.
Barcelona first filed an official bid on 17 December, encouraged by new flexibility from Al Ahly.
The proposal is a loan with an option to buy, with Al Ahly seeking around 1 million euros for the loan and 4 million more if the clause is activated, plus bonuses tied to a promotion to Barcelona’s first team and 20% of any future sale.
Negotiations are now smoother, and Abdelkarim is described as very close to joining Barcelona’s reserve side.
