Barcelona set sights on Moroccan youngster Gessime Yassine after impressive Strasbourg display
FC Barcelona are reportedly monitoring young Moroccan forward Gessime Yassine, who has made a strong impression at RC Strasbourg Alsace this season.
Yassine arrived at Strasbourg from Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque during the winter transfer window for a reported fee of €7 million.
Since his move, the young forward has quickly made his mark, featuring in seven matches for the eastern French club and providing his first assist in a 1–1 draw against Olympique de Marseille on February 14.
His performances have continued to impress, particularly in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France against Stade de Reims, where he earned praise for his influence in his first start for Strasbourg.
Prior to joining Strasbourg, Yassine had already enjoyed a productive stint with Dunkerque, scoring three goals and providing eight assists in the first half of the season. At just 20, the Moroccan Under-20 international has accumulated 16 youth caps, scoring four times, and has appeared in nearly 80 professional matches—a remarkable feat for such a young player.
Barcelona’s interest underscores Yassine’s rapid rise and the potential they see in him as a dynamic forward capable of influencing games at the highest level. While no official bid has yet been made, the coming months could prove pivotal in determining whether the Moroccan talent makes the leap to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
