Barcelona recruit 16-year-old Ajay Tavares for the future
FC Barcelona have officially confirmed the acquisition of promising Dutch attacking talent Ajay Tavares from Norwich City FC, underlining the club’s continued commitment to investing in youth development.
In a statement released on Monday, the Catalan giants announced that the 16-year-old, who has Cape Verdean roots, will join the club’s Juvenil A side, Barcelona’s Under-19 team.
The club stated, “Barcelona has reached an agreement on the transfer of Ajay Tavares. The player moves from Norwich City to the Catalan club’s Juvenil A (U19) team.”
Tavares is regarded as one of the emerging prospects of his generation, noted for his explosive pace, sharp distribution, and composed finishing in front of goal.
Although naturally right-footed, he typically operates from the left flank, where his ability to take on defenders in one-on-one situations makes him particularly dangerous.
The teenager now steps into one of the most renowned development systems in world football, with the ambition of progressing through the ranks and ultimately earning a place in Barcelona’s senior squad.
