Barcelona sporting director Deco is closely monitoring Fiorentina striker Moise Kean as a potential addition to the squad this summer.
Kean, of Ivorian descent, has revitalized his career in Florence after a challenging period at Juventus, drawing attention from top European clubs.
The 24-year-old forward, who transferred from Juventus to Fiorentina in July 2024 for €13 million plus €5 million in bonuses, has made a significant impact this season.
Kean has netted 16 goals in Serie A, placing him second in the league’s scoring charts, and has earned a recall to the Italian national team under coach Luciano Spalletti.
Barcelona’s interest in Kean aligns with their search for a new centre-forward. While Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has been offered to the club, Deco appears more inclined towards Kean, who is seen as a more attainable target.
Kean’s contract with Fiorentina includes a €52 million release clause, valid only during the summer transfer window until July 31.
This clause was a condition requested by Kean’s representatives to ensure flexibility in future transfers.
Fiorentina’s Director General Alessandro Ferrari confirmed the clause, stating, “Kean’s clause? This condition was requested, which we didn’t particularly like, but we tried to conclude the deal in the best possible way. It was absolutely worth it for the player.”
Despite the clause, any potential move would require Kean’s approval. Ferrari emphasized, “If he wants to leave us, he will also have to give his approval.”
Kean’s resurgence has not gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham, reportedly expressing interest.
However, Barcelona’s proactive approach, spearheaded by Deco, could position them favorably in the race to secure the striker’s services.
