Spanish giants FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of talented midfielder Ibrahim Diarra.
The highly anticipated move comes after the 17-year-old had previously trained with the club earlier this year but had to return to Mali when his visa expired in February.
Barcelona’s interest in Diarra grew following his impressive performances during the U17 World Cup in Indonesia in late 2023.
Despite his departure, the club remained committed to acquiring the promising player. On Tuesday, the signing was confirmed, with Diarra committing to a contract until 2028. Initially, he will join Barca Atletic, the club’s reserve team.
Reports suggest that Barcelona paid approximately €1.7 million for the young talent. An official statement from the club highlighted that Diarra’s contract signing is pending completion.
Born on December 12, 2006, in Mali, Diarra is known for his left-footed play, ball control, and versatility, as he can also operate as a winger.
He captained the Mali U17 team, scoring five goals and providing four assists during the World Cup.
