Montpellier HSC have sealed a deal to bring in Bamo Meïté on loan from Olympique Marseille, with the 23-year-old defender joining the club until the end of the season.
The loan includes an option to buy, giving Montpellier the chance to secure Bamo Meïté on a permanent basis.
The transfer saga saw Montpellier pursuing the player for weeks, initially seeking a “dry” loan, but Marseille insisted on an option to buy. With the transfer window closing today, Montpellier adjusted their approach and agreed to include the purchase clause, finally reaching a consensus with Marseille.
Bamo Meïté, whose playing time has been limited under Marseille’s Roberto De Zerbi, is eager to rediscover regular first-team action. Meanwhile, Montpellier, who find themselves near the foot of Ligue 1, have been desperate for defensive reinforcements. The arrival of Meïté provides an opportunity for the club to strengthen their defense and push for better league position.
