Nigerian forward Bamidele Yusuf, currently playing for Serbian club Vojvodina, has expressed his ambition to earn a place in the Super Eagles squad. The 23-year-old’s outstanding performances in the 2024/25 Serbian SuperLiga have garnered attention, with eight goals and two assists in 17 appearances.
Speaking about his aspirations, Yusuf said, “It is every footballer’s dream to represent his country. If I am called up, I want to bring my qualities to the team and help them score more goals.”
Yusuf’s journey in Serbia began with a period of adaptation, taking four games to find his rhythm. Once settled, he quickly became a crucial player for Vojvodina.
His breakthrough moment came in August when he scored twice against Radnički, and he later delivered a remarkable four-goal performance in a 4–0 victory over Novi Pazar in November, becoming only the second Nigerian to achieve such a feat for the club.
Despite Vojvodina’s seventh-place position in the league, Yusuf remains optimistic about the team’s potential to secure European football, particularly through their Serbian Cup campaign.
His contributions were pivotal in their progress to the quarter-finals, including a brace in the 3-1 victory over Grafičar in November.
Yusuf’s journey to Vojvodina began at Radnicki Nis, where he tallied six goals and five assists in just 16 matches.
He previously played for Estoril in Portugal and Spartak Trnava in Slovakia, showcasing his versatility and consistency across different leagues.
As Nigeria prepares for their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in March 2025, Yusuf’s current form could make him a strong contender for a call-up to the national team.
His determination and scoring prowess have made him a player to watch, and fans are eager to see if he will soon don the green and white jersey of the Super Eagles.
