Bamba Dieng: Senegal striker and free agent linked with Al-Shabab move

Senegal forward Bamba Dieng, currently without a club after leaving FC Lorient, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab.

Dieng, 26, is a right-footed centre-forward whose market value is currently assessed at 15m, underlining the calibre of free agent potentially available to the Riyadh club. His status outside of any contract means a deal could be completed without a transfer fee.

The Pikine-born striker spent last season on the books of Lorient, having returned there in June 2025 following a loan spell at fellow French side Angers. He officially left Lorient at the start of July 2026 and has been unattached since.

Diengs career in Europe was launched at Olympique Marseille, who signed him in 2021 from Diambars de Saly FC after an initial loan with Marseilles B team. He later secured a permanent move to Lorient in January 2023, remaining in Ligue 1 while his form and valuation fluctuated.

After an initial dip at Lorient, his market value climbed sharply again in early 2026, rising from 1.8m in December 2025 to 15m by June 2026, suggesting a significant upturn in performances or perception in the latter stages of his time in France.

Dieng has represented Senegal at senior level, adding international experience to a profile that includes top-flight football in Ligue 1 and recent exposure at Angers and Lorient.

No agreement has been reached and the rumoured interest currently centres on Al-Shabab exploring a possible free transfer for the Senegalese striker.
