Algerian duo Bakrar and Bennacer crowned champions with Dinamo Zagreb
Dinamo Zagreb have secured the Croatian league title, with Algerian internationals Ismaël Bennacer and Monsef Bakrar playing their part in the decisive victory.
The title was confirmed following a 2-1 win over NK Varaždin in the 32nd round, a result that sealed Dinamo’s dominance in the competition.
The match also marked notable contributions from both Algerian players, who were introduced from the bench during the second half.
Bakrar entered the game on the hour mark, while Bennacer made his return to action in the final 15 minutes after a spell on the sidelines due to a thigh injury.
Their involvement came at a crucial stage, as Dinamo overturned the scoreline to secure the victory that confirmed their status as champions.
This success represents the club’s 26th league title, underlining their continued authority in Croatian football. With only a handful of fixtures remaining, Dinamo have built an unassailable lead over closest challengers Hajduk Split, effectively putting the title race beyond doubt.
While the collective achievement highlights the strength of the squad, the individual outlook for the two Algerian players appears to differ.
Bakrar has shown encouraging signs in attack and is increasingly seen as a player capable of establishing himself within the team over a longer period.
In contrast, Bennacer’s situation remains less certain. The midfielder is currently on loan from AC Milan, and indications suggest that his stay in Croatia may be temporary.
Unless circumstances change, he is expected to return to Italy at the end of the season before determining the next step in his career.
Dinamo’s title-winning campaign reinforces their position at the summit of Croatian football, while also providing a platform for players like Bakrar and Bennacer to shape their respective futures.
