Babacar Welle leaves Villarreal for Vitoria SC U19 in Portugal

Spain and Senegal centre-forward Babacar Welle has joined Vitoria SC U19 from Villarreal U19, completing the move on 31 August 2026.

The 18-year-old, who was born in Gava, makes the switch after spending the first half of 2026 with Villarreal’s under-19 side. Welle had joined Villarreal U19 from Roda U19 on 1 January 2026, giving him experience at two youth clubs during the 2025-26 season.

Welle is listed as a centre-forward and is comfortable using either foot. His latest competitive appearances came in the UEFA Youth League, where he played three matches for a total of 45 minutes.

The forward began his youth career with EF Gava before moving to CD Roda Youth in July 2022. He then progressed to Villarreal’s youth set-up a year later, before moving to Roda U19 in July 2025.

His path through youth football has now taken him across the Iberian Peninsula, with Vitoria SC U19 becoming the latest club in his development. The Portuguese side will be his fourth youth team since leaving EF Gava.

Welle’s dual nationality links him to both Spain and Senegal, while his place of birth in Catalonia adds to the Spanish side of his football background. He is 18 years old and was born on 21 July 2008.

The move gives Vitoria SC U19 a forward who has already experienced academy football in Spain and featured in European youth competition. For Welle, it represents the next stage of a career that has included spells with EF Gava, CD Roda Youth, Villarreal’s youth team, Roda U19 and Villarreal U19.

The transfer was completed on 31 August 2026, with Welle now registered as a Vitoria SC U19 player.
