Ghana’s U-20 team claimed a vital 2-0 victory over Niger in their second group-stage match of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship, with forward Aziz Musibau netting twice to secure all three points for the Black Satellites.

The match, which serves as a qualifier for the 2024 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, saw Ghana dominate from the outset with a disciplined and commanding performance.

Musibau, the standout player of the game, made his mark with a brace, showcasing clinical finishing that kept Ghana firmly in control throughout the contest.

Musibau’s first goal came in the opening half, when a well-timed run allowed him to slot home past the Nigerien goalkeeper after a precise build-up from the midfield.

His second strike followed soon after, as he pounced on a defensive error to double Ghana’s lead.

Both goals not only gave the Black Satellites a comfortable cushion but also demonstrated their attacking prowess as they pushed for dominance in the tournament.

Niger, on the other hand, struggled to break through a resolute Ghanaian defense.

Despite some periods of pressure, the Nigeriens were unable to create any clear-cut opportunities, with the Black Satellites’ backline standing firm and keeping a clean sheet.

Ghana’s defense, led by a disciplined and cohesive unit, stifled any chance of a comeback from Niger, ensuring a smooth pathway to victory.

Musibau’s performance will be a significant boost for the Black Satellites as they look ahead to their next fixture.

With this result, Ghana’s chances of advancing to the knockout stages are greatly enhanced, giving the team renewed confidence as they progress in the competition.

Reflecting on the win, coach Abdul Karim Zito praised his team’s effort and determination, particularly highlighting Musibau’s contributions.

Aziz showed great composure in front of goal. It was a team effort, and now we are focused on our next match,” he said.

The win comes at a crucial time for Ghana, who needed to bounce back after their earlier performance in the group stage.

With their sights set on qualification for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, the victory against Niger puts them in a strong position heading into the final group game.

As the Black Satellites prepare for the next challenge, fans will be hopeful that Musibau and his teammates can continue their winning momentum and secure a place in the knockout stages, keeping their hopes alive for continental glory.
