Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa has confirmed the unavailability of Austrian international of Nigerian descent, David Alaba ahead of their La Liga clash against Celta Vigo.

Alaba was forced off with injury in the sides’ previous game, where the side succumbed to a narrow defeat to Getafe, undermining their title chances.

“Another injury. David Alaba is out for tomorrow. Asensio? We’ll see. And if not… then Diego Aguado or Lamine Fati will play. We’ll see. But Alaba definitely won’t be there,” Arbeloa stated ahead of the Celta Vigo clash.

Alaba’s absence is a significant blow for Real Madrid, who are currently sweating over the fitness of several key players. Real Madrid now faces decisions on defensive reinforcements, with options like Diego Aguado and Lamine Fati likely to step up in his place.

With a high-stakes clash against Manchester City looming, Madrid will need to adapt quickly to maintain defensive stability while managing injuries to key squad members.

The 33-year-old experienced defender has been limited to just 13 appearances for Real Madrid in the current football campaign.
