Aurelien Tchouameni concern grows as Real Madrid prepare for Bernabeu return

Further doubts have emerged over Aurelien Tchouameni’s availability for Real Madrid’s next match against Real Sociedad after the midfielder missed the team’s group training session.

The fixture will be Real Madrid’s first home game of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Tchouameni’s absence from the latest session has cast uncertainty over whether he will be ready to take part.

The France international had recovered from a minor injury sustained last week and was able to rejoin his team-mates in training before Real Madrid’s opening La Liga match against Espanyol. However, manager Jose Mourinho decided that Tchouameni had not yet regained full physical and technical fitness.

As a result, the midfielder remained in Madrid and was left out of the squad for the Espanyol game.

Tchouameni returned to training on the previous day and completed the session alongside the rest of the squad. His failure to take part in the group work today, however, has renewed concerns about his condition ahead of the meeting with Real Sociedad.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the current indications are that Tchouameni could be omitted from the Real Madrid squad for a second consecutive match. The report says he has still not reached the level of readiness required to feature in competitive games.

His potential absence would add to a growing list of players unavailable to Real Madrid as they prepare for their first home fixture of the campaign. Tchouameni is not the only player currently working away from the full squad.

Endrick, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Thiago, Rodrygo and Asensio are also following different stages of rehabilitation from their respective injuries.

Those players are expected to continue their recovery programmes over the coming days. Real Madrid will therefore approach the Santiago Bernabeu return with several important members of the squad still sidelined.

The situation surrounding Tchouameni remains unresolved, with his participation against Real Sociedad dependent on whether he can return to full team training and demonstrate that he is physically and technically prepared. His latest absence means Real Madrid may again have to plan without the France midfielder as they look to begin their home schedule.
