Sierra Leonean forward Augustus Kargbo has completed a move to Blackburn Rovers, signing a two-year contract with an option for a further year after passing his medical.
The 24-year-old, who previously played for Cesena and FC Crotone, sees the transfer as a significant milestone in his career.
Following his unveiling, Kargbo expressed his excitement about the opportunity to compete in the English Championship and contribute to Blackburn’s ambitions.
The club, currently seventh in the standings, is pushing for promotion to the Premier League.
I join Blackburn FC with a great sense of excitement and determination.
This is a big step in my career and I am looking forward to contributing to the success of the team whilst growing as a player,” Kargbo told Africafoot.
The Leone Stars striker emphasized his goal of developing both technically and physically in one of the most competitive football leagues.
My main goals in England are to improve my game, help the team achieve its goals and make a name for myself in one of the most competitive football environments.
I want to develop both technically and physically and prove myself at this level,” he added.
Kargbo also revealed that he was already familiar with Blackburn Rovers before signing, having followed the club’s history, fanbase, and ambitions closely.
I had an idea about Blackburn FC before I signed.
I knew the history of the club, its passionate fan base and its ambitions.
I also followed the league,” he said.
Blackburn Rovers are set to face Queens Park Rangers in their next Championship fixture as they continue their push for a promotion spot.
Kargbo will now look to make an immediate impact in his new surroundings.
