Atletico Madrid, after eliminating Barcelona, hopes to avoid Chelsea in the upcoming Champions League semi-final draw. The Spanish club faces a dilemma concerning their goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan from Chelsea.
According to reports from the Spanish newspaper AS, Atletico Madrid would have to pay three million euros per match to field Courtois against Chelsea, as per the terms of his loan agreement. This clause poses a significant financial burden, with the club facing a total cost of six million euros for both legs of the semi-final.
Atletico’s president has expressed reluctance to pay this amount, complicating the situation for the club ahead of the crucial semi-final tie.
