Mario Mandžukić Completes Move to Atlético Madrid
Croatian striker Mario Mandžukić has completed his transfer to Atlético Madrid, signing a five-year contract with the Spanish champions. The deal was confirmed by Bayern Munich’s sporting director, who announced that the Bavarian club, Atlético Madrid, and Mandžukić had reached an agreement.
In his first comments since the transfer, Mandžukić expressed his happiness at joining Atlético and his confidence in the club’s ambitions. Speaking to Marca, he said, “I’m very happy to be here and glad that everything went well. I know Atlético well. I know they have good players and a good coach. I believe I can bring good things to this team.”
Mandžukić’s departure comes as Bayern Munich’s coach Pep Guardiola adjusts his squad, preferring Robert Lewandowski — who recently joined the German giants from Borussia Dortmund — as his leading striker.
The Croatian international, known for his physicality and goal-scoring ability, is expected to play a key role in Atlético’s attack as they look to challenge for honours in La Liga and Europe.
