Atlético Madrid are weighing up a move for Victor Osimhen as they prepare for the possible departure of key forwards, amid growing uncertainty over their attacking options.
The Madrid side face the prospect of losing Julián Álvarez, who is attracting interest from Arsenal FC, while Alexander Sørloth is drawing attention from Juventus FC, Fenerbahçe SK and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
With both players linked to moves away, Atlético are assessing how best to reshape their forward line while also strengthening their financial position.
According to Turkish outlet Turkiye Today, Atlético’s hierarchy have identified Osimhen as their leading target should they need to act in the transfer market.
Club officials are said to view the Nigerian striker as an ideal addition capable of elevating their attack next season.
Their confidence is reportedly reinforced by the recent success of compatriot Ademola Lookman, which has strengthened belief in the impact a similar profile could bring.
Any potential deal, however, would be complicated by strong competition and financial demands. FC Barcelona are also monitoring Osimhen as they search for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, while FC Bayern Munich are understood to be interested.
At the same time, Galatasaray SK are reportedly holding firm on their valuation, demanding €140 million to sanction a transfer — a figure close to double the amount paid to acquire the striker.
The financial implications present a major hurdle for Atlético. Funding a move of that scale would likely require the sale of one of their current attackers, and even then the outlay would represent a record investment for the club.
Balancing squad renewal with fiscal responsibility is expected to shape any final decision.
Osimhen’s reputation continues to grow at club and international level. Former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr underlined his standing, saying: “Osimhen is undoubtedly one of the best centre-forwards in the world.”
For now, Atlético’s plans remain conditional on outgoing transfers, but the situation highlights the club’s intent to remain competitive in attack should key departures materialise.
