Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses showed their quality with a 4-2 win against Malawi in a lively friendly at the Quneitra Municipal Stadium on Thursday evening.
The match, part of Morocco’s build-up to the 2024 African Women’s Cup of Nations, gave fans a glimpse of what to expect when the tournament kicks off on July 5.
The opening goal came in the 40th minute when Malawian defender McEndoir accidentally turned the ball into her own net. Just three minutes later, Sakina Ozraoui doubled Morocco’s lead with a well-placed strike.
After the break, Ebtisam Grady made it 3-1 in the 56th minute, adding to Morocco’s growing momentum. Though Malawi tried to push back with a second goal, the Lionesses sealed the game late when Schappelle Sweater netted in the 90th minute.
This victory highlights the team’s sharp form as they continue their preparations at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. With less than two months to go before they host the continent’s best, Morocco’s women look ready to roar.
