Athletic Bilbao triumphed over Atlético de Madrid with a stunning 3-0 victory in the semi-final second leg of the Copa del Rey. This emphatic win, coupled with their 1-0 success in the first leg, propels the Basque team to the final of the competition for the 24th time in their illustrious history.

The tone for Athletic’s exceptional performance was set early in the match, with Iñaki Williams opening the scoring in the 13th minute.

A masterful first half was sealed by Nico Williams, who found the net in the 42nd minute, underscoring Bilbao’s dominance.

The second half saw no respite for Atlético as Athletic continued to exert pressure, resulting in a third goal by Jon Uriarte Gruzeta in the 61st minute.

The 3-0 scoreline perfectly mirrored the disparity in performance between the two teams on the field.

Having last clinched the Copa del Rey in 2015, Athletic Bilbao now eyes the opportunity to lift the coveted trophy on April 6. Their opponent in the final will be Mallorca, a team with its own Copa del Rey triumph in the annals of history.

Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid, the finalists in the previous edition of the Copa del Rey, exit the competition with profound disappointment.

The Colchoneros struggled to find their rhythm against Athletic Bilbao, facing domination in all facets of the game.
