Atalanta weigh move for Lyon winger Malick Fofana

Belgian-Guinean winger Malick Fofana is the subject of reported interest from Atalanta, with the 21-year-old currently at Lyon. The Serie A club are linked with a move for the left-sided attacker, although no transfer has been confirmed.

Fofana joined Lyon from KAA Gent in January 2024 for a reported €19.5m fee and has since established himself in the French club’s first-team squad. He has made 58 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists.

The right-footed winger’s current market value is listed at €30m, while his contract with Lyon runs until 30 June 2028. That long-term agreement gives the French club a strong contractual position should Atalanta make a formal approach.

Fofana began his senior career with Gent after progressing through the Belgian club’s youth system. His record also includes six goals in 14 Europa League appearances, adding European experience to his domestic career.

Atalanta’s interest comes with Fofana still tied to Lyon for two more seasons beyond the current campaign. Any move would therefore depend on the Italian club reaching an agreement with Lyon over the player’s transfer.
