Aston Villa are reportedly pushing to wrap up the signing of Spain-born striker of Nigerian descent, Samu Aghehowa.
According to sources, the club had its scouts in Portugal on Friday to watch the FC Porto player in action.
In a game played against Moreirense, Samu Aghehowa scored a brace to lead FC Porto to a delightful 3-1 victory.
It is understood that Aston Villa have been monitoring the youngster for a while since his move from Atletico Madrid last summer.
The English club plans to strengthen its squad in the upcoming summer window for the next football season and believes bringing on board Samu Aghehowa will do the trick.
Samu, 20, almost joined Chelsea last summer for 35 million pounds, but the deal fell through.
This season, the Nigerian striker has been in sensational form for FC Porto. He has scored 22 goals and provided three assists after making 39 appearances in all competitions.
Aston Villa are expected to make formal contact with FC Porto in the coming weeks to try and sign Samu Aghehowa.
