Aston Villa complete €55m signing of Senegalese-French winger Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG

Senegalese-French winger Ibrahim Mbaye has joined Aston Villa from Paris St-Germain for €55m, completing a headline move to the Premier League at the age of 18.

Mbaye, who plays on the right wing and favours his right foot, moves to Villa after progressing through PSG’s youth system and breaking into the French club’s senior set-up. He joined PSG Youth from Versailles in 2018 before advancing through the club’s under-17 and under-19 sides.

The teenager spent the 2024-25 season with Paris SG U23 before moving up to PSG’s first team in July 2025. His time in the capital coincided with a highly successful period for the club, during which he was part of two Champions League-winning squads, two French championship-winning teams and the side that lifted the French Cup in 2025.

Mbaye also collected the FIFA Intercontinental Cup with PSG in the 2025-26 season and won the Uefa Super Cup twice, in 2025 and 2026. He joins Aston Villa with a medal collection that includes three French Under-19 titles, won during his earlier years in the club’s academy.

Internationally, Mbaye represented Senegal at the 2026 World Cup. He played in all four of Senegal’s matches at the tournament and scored once, starting 25% of the team’s games and featuring for 40% of the available minutes.

Villa have committed €55m for a player whose recorded market value was €30m when the move was made. The transfer takes Mbaye from Ligue 1 to the Premier League and marks the latest step in a rapid rise that began in the Paris region before leading to major honours with PSG.

Born in Trappes, France, Mbaye holds both Senegalese and French nationality. At 18, he now begins his first spell in English football after eight years within the PSG system, including a season with the club’s senior squad.

The transfer was completed on 1 September 2026.
