Aston Villa bring in Aaron Wan-Bissaka as West Ham spell comes to an end
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has officially left West Ham to join Aston Villa on a season-long loan, with the agreement including an obligation to make the move permanent if certain conditions are met.
The right-back’s transfer brings his two-year spell with the London club to a close and gives him the opportunity to take another significant step in his career. Wan-Bissaka has already arrived at Aston Villa’s training facilities, where he is expected to complete his official presentation with the club.
Wan-Bissaka joined West Ham in 2024 from Manchester United and made 66 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers. He scored twice during his time at the club.
His departure leaves West Ham with a gap to fill on the right side of their defence. Wan-Bissaka had established himself as an important option in that position, but the move also represents a major opportunity for the player as he begins a new chapter at Aston Villa.
The transfer allows Wan-Bissaka to remain in the Premier League while also giving him the chance to return to the Champions League. His move to the Villans therefore combines continuity at domestic level with a return to European football’s leading club competition.
The agreement is initially structured as a loan lasting one season. However, the deal includes an obligation for Aston Villa to complete a permanent transfer should the specified conditions be fulfilled.
Wan-Bissaka’s arrival follows his time at Manchester United and West Ham, and he now becomes part of Aston Villa’s squad as the club prepares for a campaign that will include Champions League football. The 27-year-old will be aiming to build on his experience in the Premier League and contribute to his new side from the right flank.
For West Ham, the deal marks the end of the defender’s involvement with the club after two seasons and 66 appearances. For Aston Villa, it provides an experienced Premier League full-back who is familiar with the demands of top-flight football and is set to compete on both domestic and European stages.
The right-back is already on site at Aston Villa’s facilities, with the formal presentation of his move now set to take place.
