In a significant setback for AS Saint-Étienne (ASSE), striker Ibrahima Wadji is set to be sidelined for several weeks due to an ongoing adductor injury in his right thigh.
The Senegalese forward has been grappling with the ailment since the conclusion of October, adding to a series of physical challenges faced by the player throughout the current season.
ASSE, the Foréz club, confirmed that Wadji is expected to make his return approximately in mid-January, contingent on the progression of his recovery.
This unfortunate news not only impacts the football club but also poses a setback for Wadji, who has encountered a string of physical issues this season.
The 28-year-old striker’s challenging journey began with a missed start to the season due to a sprained ankle.
Subsequently, he faced another setback with an injury to the hamstrings in his left thigh during the recovery process. Making a return to the pitch at the end of October, Wadji suffered the current adductor injury, compounding his injury woes, as noted by madeinfoot.
ASSE provided an official statement outlining Wadji’s injury history, stating, “Monitored by the medical staff after his sprained ankle contracted during the Rodez-ASSE match, Ibrahima Wadji saw his return to competition slowed down by an injury to the hamstring muscles of the left thigh at mid-September.
Returning to competition against Laval, the center forward then suffered an injury to the adductor muscles of his right thigh at the end of October.
His unavailability before a return to competition is estimated at mid-January. This will be updated depending on the progress of its healing.”
The absence of Wadji presents a considerable challenge for ASSE, and the club and fans alike will anxiously await updates on the striker’s recovery progress as they look ahead to a critical phase of the season.
