As preparations are underway to host the 2024 African Handball Cup of Nations from January 17 to 27, Sobhi underlined President el-Sisi’s continuous directives and support for the youth and sports sector, contributing to Egypt’s unprecedented global standing.
The draw for the 2024 African Cup of Nations, featuring 16 teams, placed the Egyptian handball team in Group 2 alongside Congo, Cameroon, and Guinea.
The team that triumphs in the 2024 African Cup of Nations will directly qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris.
In a press statement, Ashraf Sobhi highlighted the president’s ongoing guidance and support for the youth and sports sector, emphasizing Egypt’s exceptional global position due to these efforts.
He pointed out that Egypt’s current success in hosting major events and the achievements of its champions are a result of having world-class sports infrastructure.

The Egyptian Handball Federation, led by Mohamed Al-Amin, met with officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to discuss the latest developments and organizational details for the upcoming tournament.
