ASEC Mimosas clinches victory in President’s Cup against Asante Kotoko

ASEC Mimosas emerged victorious in the eighteenth edition of the President’s Cup, defeating Asante Kotoko with a scoreline of 2-1. The Yellow and Black displayed exceptional skill and resilience, securing the coveted trophy in their visit to Ghana.

ASEC Mimosas quickly asserted their dominance on the field, with Fonsinho opening the scoring in the thirteenth minute of the match.

The early lead set the tone for the Ivorian side, and their commanding performance continued as Aka Essis, the captain from Bordeaux, doubled the lead just twelve minutes later, leaving Asante Kotoko trailing 2-0 at halftime.

The Ghanaians intensified their efforts, and the match reached a climax in the closing minutes. In a dramatic turn of events, Asante Kotoko managed to reduce the deficit with a penalty converted by Steven Mukwala in the 85th minute.

The late goal injected a sense of suspense into the match, but ASEC Mimosas held their ground, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory and claiming the President’s Cup.
