AS Monaco’s defensive stalwart, Mohammed Salisu, has opened up about his ongoing journey to reclaim his best form since his arrival in France, citing that he currently operates at approximately 60% of his optimal capacity.

The Ghanaian international, formerly with Southampton, faced significant setbacks in the previous season due to injuries, which sidelined him for a considerable duration.

Despite returning to action, Salisu joined the Black Stars for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana faced an early exit in the group stage.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Salisu acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new team and expressed gratitude for the warm reception and support he received during his injury recovery.

He highlighted the positive atmosphere within the Monaco locker room, emphasizing the ease of integration.

“It’s sometimes difficult to adapt to a new locker room. But here, everyone is nice and I was very well received and supported during my injury,” Salisu stated.

While appreciating the welcoming environment, Salisu conveyed his personal ambition to elevate his performance.

He candidly admitted, “I know I can play even better. I think I’m only at 60% of my capacity.”

The defender affirmed his commitment to reaching peak form, stating, “To reach my best level, I train hard every day.”

As AS Monaco prepares for an upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Le Havre this Sunday, Salisu’s dedication to pushing his limits bodes well for the team’s defensive capabilities.

Monaco fans eagerly anticipate witnessing Salisu’s continued progress as he strives to unlock his full potential on the pitch.
