French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco are holding final talks with FC Barcelona to complete the signing of Spanish forward of Guinean-Bissau descent Ansu Fati.
Sources have revealed that the negotiations could be finalised in the coming days before the end of the week.
Ansu Fati, 22, has already agreed to a move to the Ligue 1 club, and the Catalan club are keen for the transfer to go through.
Initial discussions centred around a loan move with a €12 million purchase option, alongside a buyback clause and a percentage of future transfer fees in favour of Barcelona.
However, the clubs are now exploring the possibility of a permanent transfer that could secure additional long-term financial benefits for the La Liga giants.
One of the last hurdles to overcome is the structure of Fati’s wages should the move proceed as a loan.
Monaco are said to be ready to cover a significant portion of his salary, making the financial arrangement more palatable for all parties.
Ansu Fati is happy with the move beyond the financial benefits and is eager to play regularly for AS Monaco to get his career back on track.
Having finished third in Ligue 1, Monaco have qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
This provides Fati with a fine opportunity to play in the top European competition.
