Claudio Ranieri Departs AS Monaco After Two Years
Claudio Ranieri’s tenure at AS Monaco has come to an end. After two seasons with the Ligue 1 club, the Italian coach will leave following a mutual decision, confirmed by sporting director Vadim Vasyliev on Tuesday.
Vasyliev praised Ranieri for his work, acknowledging that the coach played an important role in Monaco’s progression, especially in guiding them to second place in Ligue 1 this season. However, he noted that the decision to part ways was necessary to bring a new dynamic to the team, aligning with the club’s ambition to adopt a more attacking style of play moving forward.
“We want a more attacking style of play to give our fans more pleasure,” Vasyliev explained, signaling the club’s aim for a more modern approach with a coach who can introduce fresh methods and an offensive vision.
Ranieri joined Monaco in 2012, helping the club transition from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1. Despite his strong achievements, particularly finishing second in Ligue 1 this season, the club’s rich resources and ambition led to greater expectations. The search for a new coach is now underway, with the profile of a modern, attack-minded manager in mind.
