AS FAR coach, Alexandre Santos, stressed the need to maintain the runner-up position in the Moroccan league this season.
The Royal Army currently sits second with 48 points, four points behind third-placed Wydad, with four rounds remaining.
Santos said in a television interview, “It is necessary to widen the gap with Wydad, as this gives us the opportunity to finish the season in second place.
“We recovered quickly after our Champions League quarter-final exit to Pyramids. Our position in the league is ideal, and our fate in second place is in our hands, so there is no room for letting it slip away.
“I am very happy with the players’ reaction after the Champions League match, and I really liked their determination to recover as quickly as possible.
“The remaining matches will be played as if they were play-offs that do not tolerate half-solutions. We will take it one match at a time in the hope that we can fulfill our fans’ aspirations after losing the shield, which is to guarantee participation in the Champions League again,” he added.
