Moroccan club AS FAR has confirmed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that it will use the 21,000-seat Olympic Stadium in Rabat as its primary venue for this season’s CAF Champions League campaign.
The decision follows the stadium’s successful hosting of the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final, demonstrating its readiness for top-tier continental competitions.
While AS FAR will also play its Moroccan Premier League fixtures at the Olympic Stadium, the club has secured exclusive access to the 75,000-seat Stade Moulay Abdellah Grand for select high-profile matches.
These include the two “clásico” clashes against Wydad and Raja, as well as potential matches in the later stages of the CAF Champions League, should the team advance.
The club’s management is, however, under pressure from supporters—particularly the “Ultra” fan group—who have threatened to boycott matches if the team is prevented from using the Moulay Abdellah Grand this season.
The fans argue that the stadium’s larger capacity and symbolic significance make it the ideal venue for major fixtures, and they are urging the club to obtain official approval to host key matches there.
